Hello! In the time since my last newsletter, I’ve created character sheets for the five main characters of necromancywip. Now that I know my characters a bit better, I can actually sit down and draft.
And as a treat for finishing my character sheets, I made a moodboard. I’m excited to share this with y’all!
Meet The Characters
For this newsletter, I’m only going to talk about the main five. Unfortunately, I don’t have individual moodboards for them—we’ll get there, though.
Katherine is a bisexual bookworm, and she’s the protagonist. She’s studying necromancy.
Cass has the worst reputation in school and she loves escaping to the nearest forest. She’s a lesbian, studies necromancy, and is the other protagonist.
Rai has a strong sense of justice and takes pride in being religious. He’s studying necromancy, and they’re best friends with Cass and Caleb.
Caleb is an absolute sweetheart and knows how to make anyone laugh. He’s studying potion science, and he’s best friends with Rai and Cass.
Briar is from East Nebula, but moved to West Nebula just for school. She’s a talented musician studying potion science and transformation, and she’s best friends with Katherine.
No Plot, Just Vibes
I’m serious. I don’t have a proper plot, synopsis, or blurb yet. About a month ago, I brainstormed via whiteboard—this means I know just enough about the plot to start drafting.
So! In place of a blurb, I have a cute little moodboard. All photos are from Pinterest.
Long Story Short…
What I’m Reading: At last, I have escaped my reading slump. I’m giving the credit to Elizabeth Acevedo’s The Poet X, which I finished in two days. It’s a novel in verse about an Afro-Latina girl named Xiomara, who finds herself through poetry. Naturally, I began reading another book by Elizabeth Acevedo, With The Fire On High, the next day. I’m enjoying that one too, partially because I’m a huge foodie.
I also checked out an ebook from the library called The Heartbreak Bakery by A.R. Carpetta. It’s about Syd, a baker at a queer-owned bakery in Austin who accidentally breaks people up with magic-infused brownies. Syd is also falling for the delivery person at the bakery, Harley. This one is so much fun! And I love the nonbinary representation.
What I’m Watching: I finished Bridgerton S3 Part 2, and I’m still not over it. I also watched Queen Charlotte, which means I’m officially obsessed with Lady Agatha Danbury. I am also excited for the queer storylines next season and beyond.
I’ve also been watching a variety of game shows and cooking shows, including Perfect Match, MasterChef, and Food Stars.
What I’m Doing: I’ve been playing so much Stardew Valley. I’ll spare all of the details, just so I don’t bore you. I’ve also been cooking. A few weeks ago, I made crispy tofu and cauliflower rice. I can’t wait to try this recipe again.
